Tema Advanced Tariffing Network Connector provides 3GPP and IN compatible interfaces for real-time triggering and management of network events in 2G, 3G and future networks for tariffing and charging.
TEMA Advanced Tariffing support number of connection models depending on the network capabilities and the tariffing needs.
Following connection models are supported:
Front-End Prepaid charging control: Tema Advanced Tariffing takes the real-time charging control for those subscribers that are subscribed to any advanced tariffing scheme. Tema system can control all traffic for these subscribers or it can only control the call scenarios that require advanced tariffing (e.g. all national calls). The legacy charging system(s) will handle normally all other subscribers and call scenarios. This approach allows gradual migration to advanced tariffing.
Tariff information collection mode: In this mode Tema Advanced Tariffing only monitors the advaced tariffing call scenarios and based on the monitoring modifies the charging done by legacy charging systems. All charging control and normal charging is done by legacy charging systems. This mode provides non-interruptive way to bring advanced tariffing to network.
Prepaid Broker mode: Tema Advanced Tariffing takes the real-time charging control for all calls. It will only process the calls that require advanced charging and forwards (or disregards) the triggers to legacy real-time charging system for other call scenarios. After forwarding the trigger Tema Advanced Tariffing drops out of the control path and further charging control for those call scenarios are handled directly by legacy system. This model minimizes or totally avoids changes to carrier’s provisioning path.
Tema Advanced Tariffing also supports a mode, where Tema Advanced Tariffing Network Connector is not needed at atll, where the collection of required tariff information is done directly from the existing charging systems and no direct network integration is required. Tema Advanced Tariffing Network Connector supports SS7 and/or SIGTRAN connectivity to GSM, 3G, CDMA and IMS networks via CAP, MAP and Diameter protocols.
